Edward Mandla Nxumalo - Inyosi Auctioneers & Appraisals
At SAIA, we are so honoured to have members who inspire and encourage others to start their own businesses and become members with us. Edward Mandla Nxumalo of Inyosi Auctioneers & Appraisals had his first taste of Auctioneering while working for Ian Wyles of Ian Wyles Auctioneers, fellow Auctioneer and member of SAIA.
When Edward completed his matric, he started working for Ian Wyles Auctioneers and hasn’t turned his back on the Auctioneering since then- 16 years ago. “While working for Ian Wyles Auctioneers I developed an interest in the Industry and this is where I built up my experience,” Edward said.
“The passion and energy Mr Wyles had while doing his job made me fall in love with this business and Industry. Especially conducting auctions. This inspired me to start my own Auction business.” He also credits Ian Wyles as his mentor.
Edward started his own business in 2019 after he got his appraisals certificate. “It was a bit difficult for me since I had no capital to start my business,” he said when asked how the journey has been so far. Some of the challenges he has faced include running auctions with many items, but less people attending as well as buyers refusing to pay for the items they bid for.
One of his favourite parts of being an Auctioneer is the people he gets to meet every day. “You also learn new things. I also love promoting and proposing my business to new people,” he said.
Operating in Durban, the Eastern Cape and Johannesburg, Inyosi Auctioneers & Appraisals offer a variety of Auctioneering services, evaluations and appraisals, dealer stocking and storage facilities. Edward says he does have some plans to expand his business.
Some of Inyosi Auctioneers and Appraisals’ biggest accomplishments thus far include having a three year contract with Ithala Bank, a three year contract with Human Settlement and a contract with the University of Zululand.
