Sometimes auctioneering is simply in a person’s blood and Aucor Midrand’s Melonie Lubbe is one such person who has taken the company to great heights.

What sets her apart is not just her expertise but the unique path she navigated to become a successful auctioneer. In 2004, Melonie embarked on her career doing Art Auctions at Sea, adding a touch of elegance to the high seas. Upon returning to South Africa in 2010, she faced the challenge of breaking into a male-dominated field. Undeterred, she applied to numerous auction companies, showcasing her determination to continue her passion on home soil. Aucor Midrand recognized her potential, offering her a role as a junior auctioneer. Under the mentorship of seasoned professionals, Melonie honed her skills and carved a niche for herself in the industry.

Her inspiration for becoming an auctioneer was twofold – the initial allure of travel and learning a new craft, coupled with a fascination for negotiation, collectibles, and the electric atmosphere of auctions. Melonie's favorite aspect of her profession lies in connecting people with items they are passionate about. The vibrant auction setting, with its blend of anticipation and energy, captivates her, and she relishes the quick-paced interaction with bidders, culminating in the gratifying moment of declaring an item sold.

Acknowledging her mentors, Melonie credits Eddie Winterstein, who patiently guided her in the early days, and Hedley Harris, whose encouragement fueled her dream when doors seemed closed. Jacques van der Linde is a more recent influence, particularly in the realm of vehicle auctions.

Specializing in vehicles, property, art, and collectibles, Aucor Midrand, operating nationwide, has been a pioneer in the auctioneering industry for an impressive 54 years. Melonie views the enduring legacy of Aucor Midrand as its most remarkable achievement, a testament to the company's commitment to excellence, innovation, and the trust it has earned from clients and peers alike. As Melonie Lubbe continues to thrive in her role, her journey stands as an inspiration to aspiring auctioneers and a testament to the transformative power of passion and perseverance.
