Sipho Nzuza - Isivuno Auctioneers

Our SAIA Board Members are actively involved in the Auctioneering Industry. This ensures that all decisions made are taken from expert advice, from people who know what they are talking about, with our members and the industry in mind. One such Board Member, Mr Sipho Nzuza has been involved in the Auctioneering Industry since 1997 and brings a wealth of experience to every meeting and auction.

Q: Tell us about your background

A: I was born in KwaZulu Natal, in the township called KwaMashu- B Section and raised by a wonderful lady who had an entrepreneur spirit. I later moved to K Section where I spent the rest of my youth and that is where they gave me my nickname “Mjokes”.

Q: When was your company established?

A: The company was established in 1997 by a friend who I was working alongside and that is where my love for Auctioneering began.

Q: How many years have you been involved in the Auctioneering Industry?

A:  I have been in the industry since 1997 – 25 years- and finally stood on my own 10 years and have been a SAIA Board Member for almost 10 years.

Q: How did you get involved in Auctioneering?

A: My friend was a Director and brought me in and I have loved it ever since. I went on to study at The South African College of Auctioneering and served as a SAIA Board Member amongst some of the greatest minds ever.

Q: Who have some of your mentors been?

A: My mentors have always been Clive Manci, who started Isivuno; Ian Wyles, a prominent Auctioneer in South Africa; Rael Levitt, founder of Auction Alliance; as well as Eddie Winterstein, founder of Aucor. They have the most brilliant minds.

Q: What are some of the challenges you have faced?

A: Getting my own Auction House and securing a good contract from one of the leading banks as well as consistency in the flow of work.

Q: What is your specialty?

A: We chose to focus on Movable Assets and we are enjoying the space right now. We will be slowly including properties to our portfolio.

Q: What area(s) does your company operate in?

A:  Our scope is National, we have had auctions with Municipalities, Government and others all over South Africa. We mainly do online auctions, which helped us a lot during Covid, as we didn’t have to struggle getting onto the online scene.

Q: What is your company’s biggest accomplishment thus far?

A: The biggest one was to share the stage with the South African President while invited to a fundraiser as an Auctioneer.
